Wraparound Care + Therapy Services

Care that extends beyond the therapy room

Is your child refusing to go to school, struggling to keep it together at baseball practice, or turning every homework session into a battleground? If weekly therapy in an office setting just isn’t cutting it, you’re not alone — and you’re in the right place.

The behaviors, challenges, and moments when you and your child need support most don’t wait for scheduled appointments. Wraparound Care goes beyond traditional talk therapy, bringing real support into the places where daily life actually happens: at home, at school, and out in the world. Walking alongside you and your family, we address the underlying challenges driving behaviors, build practical life skills in real-time, and create lasting change that extends far beyond our sessions together. When needed, we work collaboratively with our Neurodevelopmental Services team to ensure comprehensive support.

How it Works

Real-World Support for Real-Life Challenges

Wraparound care meets your family where you are—literally. Our therapists work with you, your child, or teen in their natural environments: at home during the chaos of morning routines; after school through homework, arguments, and slamming doors; in the community during transitions that trigger meltdowns, and in the everyday moments where behaviors show up. The skills we teach aren’t just theoretical concepts discussed in a clinic—they’re practiced and reinforced in real-time, in the real situations your child navigates daily. Because when therapy happens in context, change happens faster and lasts longer.

This is especially true for neurodivergent children and teens. Research shows that neurodivergent individuals often struggle to transfer skills learned in a clinical setting into their daily lives — not because they can’t learn, but because their brains are wired to learn best in the environments where those skills actually need to show up. Wraparound Care is built around this understanding, surrounding neurodivergent young people with a consistent, aligned support system that reinforces growth everywhere it matters.

FEATURES OF CARE

Our therapists observe and work with you and your child or teen in their actual environments — at home, in the community, and in the real-life scenarios that matter most. That means we’re there during the morning routine meltdown, the after-school crash, and yes, on the sidelines at soccer practice or inside the dojo at tae kwon do. This means we see the full picture of what’s happening, understand the triggers and patterns that keep them stuck, and can intervene in the moments that matter most — so your child can stay in the activities they love, and actually thrive in them.

We focus on teaching practical, everyday skills like emotional regulation, effective communication, organization and planning, structured routines, self-advocacy, and navigation social situations. This means your child, teen, or young adult develops capabilities that directly improve their ability to function in daily life—at home, at school, in relationships, and eventually, as they step into independence.

We create comprehensive, individualized behavior plans that identify your child or teens’s unique strengths, challenges, triggers, goals, and evidence-based interventions tailored to their needs. This means you and your child, teen, or young adult—and everyone supporting them—have a clear, actionable roadmap for what works, what doesn’t, how to move towards change, and how to respond when behaviors escalate.

When a child or teen is struggling, the impact ripples through the entire family — parents stretched thin, siblings caught in the chaos, and relationships strained by the weight of it all. Wraparound Care extends support beyond the individual to the people who love and live alongside them. Through parent coaching, sibling support, and family-system work, we help everyone in the household develop the tools, language, and understanding they need to show up for your child — and for each other. This means your child isn’t the only one growing through this process — your whole family is.

We partner closely with your child or teen’s entire support network — educators, clinicians, and care teams — ensuring everyone is aligned and working from the same playbook. This means no more conflicting advice, better communication across providers, and care that actually builds on itself instead of working at cross-purposes.

When safety concerns arise—whether it’s aggression, self-harm, or suicidal thinking—we provide structured safety planning and teach personalized de-escalation strategies for your child and family. This means you’ll have concrete tools to help your child or teen regulate, stay safe, and move through critical moments with more confidence and less fear.

Our care model scales to meet your family’s and young persons’s needs—from intensive, ongoing support for complex thinking and behavioral challenges to short-term, targeted intervention for specific skills or situations. This means you get the right level of support at the right time, without being locked into a one-size-fits-all program.

“Lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when care expands to include the environments, relationships, and systems that shape a young person’s daily life.”

— Founder, Chief Executive & Care Officer, Makenzie Wesner

Understanding the Why, Not Just the What

Traditional behavioral approaches focus on what your child is doing. We focus on why. Using a comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming, medically-informed lens, we conduct root-cause analysis to uncover the underlying challenges driving the behaviors you’re seeing—executive functioning struggles, sensory processing differences, unaddressed anxiety or depression, medical issues, or sleep problems affecting regulation.

By understanding these underlying drivers, we move away from “managing” behaviors and toward addressing them at the root. This results in:

  • Less daily conflict – reducing meltdowns, power struggles, and household chaos
  • Skills that actually stick – because they’re practiced in real-time, in real-life contexts
  • Whole-family healing – better communication and healthier relationships for everyone
  • Sustainable progress – addressing causes, not just symptoms, creates lasting change

Our interdisciplinary team doesn’t just identify problems—we pinpoint exactly how these challenges prevent your child from thriving at home, at school, and in their community, so we can create interventions that lead to meaningful, lasting change.

Who This is For

Families Navigating Complex Needs

If your child’s challenges feel layered, persistent, or overwhelming, Wraparound Care can be one part of a broader, supportive puzzle—designed to hold more, not place more on you.

Those Seeking Early or Moderate Support

Some benefit from starting with traditional therapy, while others may require additional, in-vivo support over time. Wraparound Care offers flexibility as needs evolve.

Schools and School Districts

We partner with educational communities to support students in context—strengthening collaboration, reducing strain on staff, and fostering environments where young people can thrive.

A peek at what we’re building:

Wraparound Care at Blue Wave is intentionally designed to grow with families and communities. Our vision includes:

Therapists who work alongside young people and families in their natural environments—observing challenges, strengthening routines, and building skills from the ground up.

Support with habits, activities of daily living, emotional regulation, executive functioning, relational dynamics, and goal-setting—integrated into everyday life.

Active partnership with parents, caregivers, educators, and fellow providers to ensure alignment, consistency, and shared understanding.

Direct collaboration with public and private schools to support students, classrooms, and systems through consultative and therapeutic services.

Wraparound Care can be a starting point for complex needs, a window into therapy that meets a young person where they are in their journey, or a next step when traditional therapy alone isn’t enough.

Bringing Therapy into Your Home

Research shows that habits are best formed through consistent practice in the environments where we live. Our wraparound care model brings therapy into your home, allowing families to practice new skills in real-time, in the moments that matter.

“Change might not be fast and isn’t always easy. But with time and effort, almost any habit can be reshaped”.
