At Blue Wave, comprehensive neurodevelopmental services provide personalized, medically-informed care for children, teens, young adults, and their families navigating neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges. Our approach is deeply collaborative, bringing together your child’s care team to ensure everyone is aligned and working toward the same goals. For families who need support beyond the office, our Wraparound Care and Therapy Services extend expert intervention directly into your home, school, and community—addressing challenges in real-time, in the environments where they actually occur.

If you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn, you’re in the right place. We’re here to help you make sense of what’s happening, chart a clear path forward, and walk alongside you every step of the way.

The Importance of An Assessment

From Confusion to Clarity

Embarking on a new journey starts with understanding where you are—and where you want to go. Blue Wave offers a flexible, step-by-step approach designed to meet you where you are, whether you’re seeking a fresh start or building on existing care. Our process is thoughtful, personalized, and rooted in compassion.

Our process starts with a free 15-minute consultation to get to know us and ensure our approach is the right fit for you. From there, we move into a comprehensive three-part assessment: a Foundation Visit to understand your child’s history and current challenges, a thorough Comprehensive Analysis of all gathered information, and an Action Planning Visit to review results and create your personalized roadmap forward.

This assessment isn’t just about diagnostic labels—it provides the essential groundwork for your first steps of care. By taking a medically-informed approach, we often uncover underlying medical conditions, neurological patterns, or co-occurring challenges that may have been previously missed. Understanding the complete picture allows us to develop care that actually addresses what’s driving the behaviors you’re seeing.

From there, care at Blue Wave includes medical management, treatment planning, and ongoing support tailored to your family’s evolving needs—ensuring you have clarity, guidance, and expert care every step of the way.

3-Part Assessment

Purpose: To build a detailed understanding of your or your child’s history, current concerns, and goals. A strong foundation sets the stage for a successful care journey.

What to Expect: This visit lasts generally 90 minutes. We’ll explore primary challenges, goals, and relevant history — including neurodevelopmental, behavioral, mental health, and medical/genetic background.

A dynamic clinical interview will unfold naturally through our conversation, incorporating assessment tools as needed. In some cases, additional formal testing (such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule/ADOS) may be identified as necessary during this visit.

Purpose: To thoughtfully review and integrate all available information — from data to lived experience — for a clear, individualized understanding. This comprehensive perspective allows us to identify patterns, clarify needs, and create a personalized care roadmap rooted in both science and human connection.

What to Expect: Before the Foundation Visit, we’ll review your New Patient Questionnaire and any available records (e.g., prior evaluations, lab reports, IEPs). Afterward, we analyze information gathered from conversation, observation, and assessments.

This culminates in a personalized Action Plan that reflects strengths, addresses challenges, includes diagnostic impressions (if applicable), and outlines practical, individualized next steps.

Purpose: To bring everything together — your provider’s diagnostic and clinical impressions, an integrated view of strengths and challenges, and guidance for moving forward — all within the framework of the Blue Wave Action Plan.

What to Expect: In this 60-minute visit, we’ll review results using strength-based, developmentally appropriate language to support deeper understanding. You’ll have time to ask questions and receive tailored recommendations as we walk through your written Action Plan — shared before or during this visit.

Ongoing Support

At Blue Wave Behavioral Health, ongoing care is designed to be flexible, responsive, and deeply attuned to each individual’s journey. Follow-up visits are opportunities to check in on progress, explore new challenges, and refine personalized Action Plans. The frequency of these visits is tailored to each person’s unique needs—ranging from biweekly to every three months, with monthly visits a common frequency of follow-up care. The duration of most follow-up appointments is 30 minutes, ensuring enough time for meaningful conversations and adjustments. However, appointment durations range from 15 minutes to 60 minutes at a time.

What sets Blue Wave apart is its commitment to lasting support. Care is designed without an expiration date, adapting to life’s changing seasons. For some, this might look like consistent monthly to quarterly follow-up care throughout the course of one’s life, while for others, it may involve temporary support during a particularly challenging time. Whether or not medication is part of the plan, Blue Wave remains a steady resource, ready to step in whenever needed. The approach is always personalized, ensuring that support is available at the right frequency and magnitude to match each individual’s evolving needs as life unfolds.
